Austin Brooks, 19, enjoys helping the community and making a difference, so much so that he volunteers at two stations.
From Honey Brook, Chester County, Austin started volunteering at Honey Brook Fire Company, Station 33, and then joined Brookhaven Fire Company about seven months ago.
“I was in town and heard the house siren going off,” he said. “I wanted to meet new people and see how things were different and the same as my station back home.”
Austin’s girlfriend lives in Brookhaven, so when he’s there, he runs calls.
“There are great people and bonds between all of the men and women there,” said Austin.
For anyone new to the fire service, he encourages them to ask a lot of questions and learn from everything around them.
When he’s not volunteering, Austin works as a shop manager in a body shop.
